Sports and Bets Offered
888sport offers hundreds of bets for popular games, all the standard wagers (moneyline, spread, total), and a vast selection of team and player props, pre-built parlays, and alternative lines. Here’s what it’s missing: Custom bet types and daily odds boosts. While the offerings make it an above-average sportsbook, 888sport still isn’t on the same elite level as DraftKings, FanDuel, and PointsBet.
Prop bets: Dozens of player and team props are available for most games at 888sport. Quick refresher: A prop bet is a bet that focuses on something other than the outcome of the game, typically team or player stats (e.g., “Will Mike Trout record over or under 1.5 hits?”).
Cash out feature: Like most sportsbooks, 888sport has a cash out feature that allows bettors to amend their original bet and lock in a profit or a loss by settling the bet (or a portion of the bet) before the event has concluded.
Daily odds boosts: 888sport is one of the lone betting apps that does not offer any daily odds boosts. (Refresher: Odds boosts are like getting a free gift with purchase (or bet, in this case), giving you more bang for your buck - on specific bets.)

As noted in the table below, 888sport offers excellent odds on NBA moneyline and soccer moneyline bets. For comparison, if average moneyline odds on a team are +125 at other sports betting sites, 888sport might offer odds at +130. In this example, every dollar wagered would return $1.30 at 888sport versus $1.25 at other sites.
Meanwhile, we found the odds on NFL moneyline, NCAAF moneyline, MLB moneyline, NHL moneyline, NHL spread, and MLB spread bets to be below average. Spread bets typically have 10 cent lines, meaning each team is listed at -110 odds. On average, 888sport offers worse odds for spread bets (e.g., -111, -112, -113, and so on).
Methodology: To score Odds, Moneyline.com gathers data from 21 sportsbooks over several months. For our 2020 Sportsbook Review, over 10,000 data points were collected for spread, moneyline, and over/under (bets).
I collected odds for spread, moneyline, and total bets for over 75 NFL games, 75 MLB games, 75 NBA games, 75 NHL games, 75 Soccer games (various leagues), and 75 NCAA Football and 75 NCAA Basketball games. When collecting odds, I collected the same games simultaneously for each sportsbook, ensuring data accuracy.
Live Betting
Live betting — as in betting on games that have already started — is an area where 888sport holds its own. Like BetRiversand FanDuel, which also have good live betting ratings, 888sport offers prop bets, instant bets, a live match tracker, and live scores. Features include:
Instant bets: 888sport offers instant bets for the most popular sports — e.g., “What team will be awarded the next throw-in in a soccer match?” or, “What will the result of the next drive be?” in an NFL game.
Live match tracker: For live sports such as hockey, basketball, and soccer, 888sport’s match tracker offers all the features you’d expect — a live clock, quarterly game score, and a graphic that indicates which team is attacking in real-time. Surprisingly, 888sport did not have a live match tracker for NFL games during the 2020-2021 season when we were conducting research for this review.
Live Streaming: 888sport does not stream live sporting events through its app. If that’s a must-have, check out FanDuel and Unibet. Due to the high costs of broadcasting games, live streaming is currently limited to international sports such as basketball, soccer, hockey, tennis, and table tennis matches.

I had no issues testing the 888sport app on my iPhone 7. The app was responsive, it was easy to navigate to games and bets, and games loaded promptly. That said, customers in New Jersey have left negative reviews about 888sport’s login menu and loading times. I was testing from Michigan and did not experience those issues, so I’m not able to replicate or verify those issues.
888sport is one of the few companies to offer casino games, sports betting, and online poker. However, users must download the 888casino and/or 888poker app to play, whereas other sportsbooks typically combine casino games and sports betting into one single app.

888sport is second to none when it comes to educating first-time bettors. The only thing 888sport doesn’t teach you how to do is consistently bet on winning teams. The sportsbook’s expansive library includes explainers on the most popular bet types, account setup, placing your first bet, and even how to deposit and withdraw money. Everything is stored under a “Getting Started” tab that’s impossible to miss.
888sport blog: In addition to traditional how-to articles, 888sport has a blog with entertaining posts like “Who is the #1 paid NFL kicker?” or “Richest NBA players of all time'. The blog also has a section dedicated to betting previews and tips, although there haven’t been any new posts since 2019. (We get it, 2020 was a rough year for everyone.)

Promotions for newcomers at 888sport aren’t one of the sportsbook’s high points, and ongoing promotions aren’t as plentiful or as easy to take advantage of as what you’ll find at DraftKings, FanDuel, and PointsBet.
New customers: For first-time customers, 888sport offers a risk-free bet up to $500, which is in line with the industry average. Keep in mind, risk-free bets can only be used on your first bet. If your first bet is only $10 and you lose, you will only be refunded $10. 888sport loses points in this category by giving customers only seven days to use their free bets. For comparison, FanDuel and PointsBet give customers a few months.
Existing customers: 888sport has a few unique ongoing promotions but still doesn’t compare to top-tier sportsbooks that roll out new promotions daily. The three ongoing promotions available when I was testing were centered around users making bets of +300, +400, and +500 odds. Refresher: If odds are rising from +200 to +300 it means payouts are increasing while the likelihood of the user winning the bet is decreasing.

Thanks to its best-in-class educational content, 888sport is an excellent option for first-time bettors who need help getting acclimated to the world of sports betting. The sportsbook also can serve as a secondary betting app for more experienced bettors, keeping in mind that other apps provide better promotions, variety of bets, and odds.

For the BettingBuck.com annual best online sportsbooks review published in 2020, a total of 2,300 data points were collected over six months and used to score sportsbooks.
